IT'S BEEN GOOD!
Well, this last week has had its fair share of ups and downs I'd say.
The Downs, my computers graphics card went out and I freaked. I thought for sure my hard drive kicked it and I thought I was going to loose a weeks worth of shooting with RP, Brandon Hammid and Nial Romanik.. Thankfully a graphic/video card is fairly inexpensive and very quick fix. Back at it and my hearts back in my chest again.
The Ups, Snow in the twin cities. Yesterday I got to shoot my second day in MN. 2 days in a season so far.. I'll take what I can get. It goes into the 'ups' cause it was a rad day shooting with the homies again. About time!!
'The Future' at a familiar spot.
If I could pick a line of board graphics to go into snowboardings hall of fame, Monuments collection this year would be my first pick. 'the Future' and 'I'm still alive' are my two all time favorite base graphics. Dave, you can put that on every deck you make from now on.
Monument is worth looking into. Artist driven, shredder ridden.
I haven't been spending much time in the twin cities this winter... It just wasn't looking like a good winter and California just looked sooo good. But, it it so sick being back and kicking it with good friends again. Krister, Cody, and Sam. Sickest crew ever.
Garret McKenzie
It's not everyday we pretend to shoot powder in MN. Two full inches of spray, why not?
Garret laying into a Wild Slash.
I had pictured that these would turn out totally different.. but I forgot that an inch or two of sun burned snow doesn't really explode. Its hard to put that stuff in the air. Krister did what he could and all for fun. yah, people still snowboard and shoot for fun, its one of those amazing things.
Well, I am stoked to be back online and blogging!
Missed a few days there... I'll make it up real soon.
stay tuned! Midwest mayhem coming up this weekend! Ashbury demo starts it off at 4pm, hyland hills this Sat. See ya there!

You'd never guess it, but...
The season Began last night!
Bald-E-Gal back at work!
..and already checking shots!
Last night I got to go out and shoot some photos with Riders: Cody Beiersdorf, Austin Young, Krister Ralles, and Danimals; Filmers Riley Erickson and Sam Fenton.
The spot.
Checking some more shots with Riley, Danimals, and Kritter brick.
There is practically no snow. Riley's remark last night was that we were farming snow, almost true. We had to shovel half the block just to build a jump. So don't get to excited yet, winter still needs to get here.
until then,

few things.

A few days ago I had the privilege of chilling on this beautiful sailboat. Chris Wyman, the same guy that recently took me to Mexico, is the owner of this beauty. I look forward to setting sail on it in the near future.

I don't go to harbors very often.. It just causes me to lust after these boats! Sailing around the world would be the greatest experience ever I think! No roads, no limits, just freedom! Dock anywhere around the world and explore. I hope that someday I can work myself into a position of being able to travel in this manner.

Snow van filled with surf boards??? haha. Good style, it's about time.

On Sunday my good buddy Brandon Phillips came and picked up the Soul Surfing crew here in Laguna. We all loaded into Sol Tech's 32 van and booked it down to San Clemente to surf State Park. We found a very uncrowded line up and super fun peaky waves. After a few hours of sick lefts and rights along with many many mistakes that lead to shore poundings, we were all super stoked on a perfect day of surfing!

Last night some MN kids rolled into town. Sam Fenton, Cody Beiersdorf, Jonas Michilot, and Danimals all cruised over to watch a pretty epic sunset here in Laguna. After getting their feet wet the temptation of getting into the surf couldn't stop the lack of trucks and wet suits. We all stripped down to boxers and body surfed well past dark. I'm sure all the tourists at Surf and Sand were amped to look out there window and see a bunch of MN kids in their underwear!
This was Sam's first time getting into the Pacific Ocean, he had a smile larger than life! Cold water could not stop all of us from having an awesome body whomping time.

Cody^ Representing Gnarly Tree in its home town of Laguna Beach. Gnarly's MN team was sporting more goods than I've seen here from the locals, gotta give them props!

Sam's first West Coast sunset. I'm sure you'll see this on FB real soon!
Come back and surf with me Sam! You're more than welcome anytime.
We finished out the night with some Ping Pong games in the backyard. Danimals held down the table for a solid 2 hours. We all watched him and Sam play variations of the funniest ping pong games I've ever seen. At one point there were at least 7 balls in play, but for the most part it was 2 balls. Most mesmerizing thing ever.
I'm glad I was able to see you guys! They had a pretty rough trip getting here... So many crazy things happened. Car accidents, brake downs, Cody's broken rib.. I'm hoping that things turn around for them as they head up to Lake Tahoe today. Good luck guys and have a safe trip! Stoked you made it here, thanks for visiting and come back soon!

Fresh Snow To Play With.

We did get the snow storm that I've been hoping for. It dumped this last weekend! The fresh snow is keeping us going late in Feb.
I got to go shoot at Harding yesterday with an awesome crew of guys! Danimals, Krister, Gabby, Jonas, Jake, Cody, Riley, and Sam! We were rolling pretty deep. A lot of sick tricks went down... stoked.

Jonas Michilot and Dan Liedahl.
After finishing up here it was time to shoot a Monday Minute...

Group photo was jakes idea, and it was a great idea!
This rail was so much fun. I built a little QP at the bottom, so proud of it! If your in the area you can check out my park building skills!
I didn't shoot to much here.. just strapped in. Sweet times riding with these guys! One of the best times I've had at a rail.
This is my 500th post on this blog.. Super happy to make it that far. I hope to build that number into the thousands. Just gotta keep shooting!
Thanks so much for checking in!

today.

The crew.
Cody, Brandon, Sam ^
Krister and Danimals >
It was much colder today than the last three. Dipping back into freezing temps is making the snow not so awesome right now, and I'm already cold again. I'm happy to hear that there is snow in the forecast for Sunday and possibly Saturday. 6-8 inches maybe?? could really use it.
keep shredding!

The best of days!

"ghost"
These were from Singles day out. Brandon Larson and Krister Ralles, Sam Fenton and I put our commitment into snowboarding, not Valentines.

This spot was looking so perfect! I mean, best set-up we have ever done. The lighting was like day, the landing was groomed, the take off was made to be seshed hard for hours. It was on point! Two hits in and it was time to leave... that's just the way it is.
The past few days it has really warmed up and we are loosing snow fast.. I hate this time of year. It's getting time to button up the season here in MN and get going on long trips out west in search of more snow. I'm really hoping for some huge spring snow storms, keep the fingers crossed.
A great thanks to all involved the past few days! It was awesome seeing Riley again today, thanks for shooting man! Everyone else also: Brandon Lepasti for stacking more photos, Cody Beiersdorf, Austin Young, Sam Fenton, Krister Ralles, Danimals, Brandon Larson = Sickest crew. I'm letting the photos tell the stories.. time to get some rest and get back at it tomorrow.
