aint nothin like spring boardin.

Myself!
Hand plants for days at Wild.
 Photo: Murphy.

It's just about as good as the first day of the season, but really, you can't beat the first day.
This time of the year when the snow is melting is sad cause we have to say our goodbyes to our life passion.. but sooo sick cause it's so good to shred in the warm air. Today we were at Wild, and it was hot. The snow is melting quick but the parks never been so good. Everything has kinda came out of that deep freeze and it feels like an average day at big bear, but with a tow rope.. major perk to these warm days. It was cooler to be shredding in the breeze rather than stand around melting all day, so Wild it was and Wild it will be for at least another week.. they got snow.

Krister Ralles: QP back flip indies on lock.
Oh werd.

and sporting that good 'ol Coors jersey. Next place these photos are going is to their marketing directors.. Krister should be on the team.

lify of the day.

Austin Young: styled out indie on the QP.
Austin put in some serous time shaping that QP just for moments like these.

...and these.

Kritter got a lil caried away on this one and just had to settle with the rodeo(i think??).

Cole Linzmeyer, Aka Rocky, came and showed me a thing or two about stylish grabs.
The Roast Beef Indie topped it for me today.

Soooo good!!!
He had these grabs on lock for the jumps and had to come over to show us how to boost a real sick backside air. So good. freakin out.

Austin ended it with this sick misty flip.
I rarely get to see him go upside down, but when I do, I like it.

Home Sweet Home.

Reppin this good wood.

and slick shoes.

get some snow before it's gone!!

Dumped.

This is what happens when 15 year old kids lip off to adult hulk size shredders like Krister Ralles, they get dumped. Garrett McKenzie Thought it'd be fun to be lippy with Krister and Austin, he ended up in the trash.

Even though it was all in good fun, garrett even took his shades off for it, the joke was still on us and we got in trouble for beating up lil kids. haha. Na, that didn't happen, but a worried mom didn't like the sight of krister picking up someone half his size and throwing him in the trash, so a manager came out and we had to tell him it was just fun and games. Personally, I would have freaked out going into that garbage can. Gross. Garrett was a good sport about the whole thing even though he did deserve it.

It's warm out there.. and this isn't going to last long. I'm hoping it sticks around through the weekend. 60+ degrees outside and snowboarding... it feels like Big Bear. Crazy. Oh well. This little park at Wild has been the epicenter of my whole winter. You can't go wrong here.
We're gunna bring some shovels and make a few things proper tomorrow at Wild. Come hang out if you can, we're grilling and it's gunna be an all around awesome time.

till then,

Fun, but 'OW!'.

Today was one of those 'perfect conditions' days at Wild Mountain.

Krister Ralles and I each learned at least four variations of a hand plant on a less than perfect quarter pipe, but it was awesome cause it was sixty degrees and sunny. Could you ask for more? However, when I changed it up to the jump a simple frontside three taught me a little lesson about landing in deep slush.. and man, it hurt. I came down hard on my toes, bashed my face in(thankfully not braking my ashbury's :)) and my closed fist was somewhere in-between my body and the snow, so it got worked pretty good also. Other than that today was one of the best days this season has offered. I walked the pain off for a second, drank some ice cold water and went home. haha. I can't complain, this is a pretty minor injury and the first one suffered from the season, and I've been riding a ton. So stoked just to have the privilege. I'll be back on the snow in a day or two.

till then, PEACE!!!

Take me back.. please.

If you could go anywhere in the whole world right now, where would it be?
For me, straight to the ocean. Any Ocean, I don't care.. Just give me salt in my hair and on my skin, I miss that taste.. I miss everything about it. Let me feel the energy of the water, the mystery of the unknown depths, and a cool ocean breeze to relax in. Man, I miss it dearly today.

Bake Burns knows the feeling. Triumph of a good surf sesh.

I would trade my camera for one of these fishing boats. No lie, in fact, may happen some day.
Don't be too surprised if it does.

Porter Hogan getting the last hurrah from a wave, a period of swell, which began thousands of miles away from where porter played in its final breath of energy. Marvelous. Perfect design from a loving creator, all for our enjoyment.

Take me back to that pirate ship. A yacht posted up a mile off shore. I hope someday that'll be me, until then, I'll keep enjoying the view from the beach.

The Ocean is such a beautiful place. I'm in love. Helplessly, hopelessly in love with water.
Stuck on dry land for about another week.. then I'm going exploring some beaches somewhere in this world.

till then,

4' 25".

Jake Durham just hooked me up with a new timer for my camera. This is the first time I've ever been able to shoot this long of an exposure.. and I'm pretty sure there will be many many more to follow.
The scene really isn't all that special, just a bridge down by the river near my home. What is cool is that this is the first time I have ever shot a photo for longer than the standard 30 seconds. I'm stoked.

Spring is on the way, I'm heading out to FL soon to see my girl friend and this will be a very fun tool to use down there on the beach. :)

Stay Tuned!

Film Checks for Days.

The best time ever to shoot group photos, Film Checks.
The only time everyone is near each other and stoked.

Snow Snow Snow.

Winter Wonder Land.

We are getting hammered again today! another 4-6 on the way... almost too much to know what to do with. So sick.

It's going down up here. Even had a chance to shoot some waves on Superior today, but I may have a chance to shoot with some surfers on upcoming wind swell, so you can wait to see those..

Mt. Du Lac.

Krister and Jake.
Spot today was super creative and fun.
Can't leak any shots though.

Mt. Du Lac on a friday night.
This was my first time here and it was soo sick!

Austin Young and a friend go shred.

Jake Durham and an awesome crew of guys after a sweet day of shredding.
Few beers and cheers.

Mt Du Lac had us come out tonight and help them get a little edit filmed for an upcoming commercial. So we all got out turns to do some crazy line with 3-5 other people all doing super fast tight lines through the park. It was so awesome. Just one more perfect day up here in Duluth.

So thanks Du Lac for being awesome and having us out, that was rad.

keep it rolling.

House of 1817.
Break time from work or something going on here...

Today was another awesome day. Super productive, super tiring; two things I love out of a day.
Some knuckle pounding and film check, always good signs.

Best Day Ever! this winter...

Duluth got a bunch of snow.. and apart from driving up there to get it, it was the best day so far this winter. Above is Danimals, Steven, and Jake droppin in down the road to go get some drinks from the near by store. I was amazed at the amount of skiers, sledders, and shredders ripping down main roads yesterday, so epic!

These guys trying out cross country skiing.

Jeff tried out wheel chairing.

Jake Durham did a stall on a covered up truck hood.

Found this snowy couch to chill on for a bit.

And then.. Waves! With a storm like we had yesterday on a lake this size comes some swell.
Surf Lake Superior.

I wish we could have surfed.. but watching it was pretty neat thing to see.

Makable rides. Nice left rolled through a few times. It would have needed to clean up a lot to get someone out there I think. Intense short period pounding if you were to paddle out.

Nice view of the city. Waves were pounding the shores and everyone trying to see this once a year occurrence.

Go find a peak and play.

And we finished yesterday off with a rail spot till almost 3am. Long day, but well worth it.
Here Krister Ralles looks at the spot he just shut down for the night.. it was absolutely HAMMER time.

More today! Thanks for checkin in.
