Most stoked out kid ever goes to.. Elijah! I'm amped on this kid, he's thanked me for this one photo a few times now.. Its really cool to see true appreciation from someone like him. I snapped it at the walking on water camps this summer. I hope that most of those kids did get their photos and are enjoying them as much as Elijah.
Stoked for you lil buddy! On top of that.. He is looking for a new thruster to get his shred on with. Amping on progression! Pray to see huge things from this kid some day, sporting a solid attitude will get him places.
I'm running with this new S.B.N. thing.. Its sticking to me pretty hard. Paul White(Haus of Print) made this new logo for me and I'm super amped on it. I actually might take the time to put it on most of my shots. We'll see.. ha.
Sometimes when you watch something or hear something it perks your imagination. In this case for me, I feel this guy. I have spent most of my life behind a lens trying to show people what I see and how i feel about it through a simple photograph. I shoot whats in front of me, most of the time those things are what my friends love to do.
This vid is an encouragement to me. He talks about the fact that he will probably never become rich from his work, but that he will continue to do it no matter what. In my eyes, that is passion and a calling on his heart. I think few people in this world really know what it is like to give something you love 100%. This bro knows whats up. Keep it real!
I never get sick of shooting photos of this kid. It could be because I sleep in his backyard, or it could be that he continues to progress with surfing. Either way, I spend a lot of time on the beach because of him and I love it. Someday its gunna be us traveling and shooting/surfing anywhere and everywhere. Good times.
I almost forgot to mention. He has a kind and loving heart. He kicks it at Bible study with the Soul Surfing Gang, and he's always that humble kid to kick it with. Pretty sure he loves God, and I think a lot is in store for him. I hope to see this kid kick it down and push limits with his life.
Saturday morning Adz and I went to check the waves early, about 6:30am. We headed down to Brooks st. to find it pounding. Brooks St. Comp was on! It was time to get ahold of the whole city of Laguna and get things rolling.
Early morning hits on the best sets of the year.
Ok, here is the Brooks St. album.
A favorite hit during the comp.
As I was looking through my finished album I decided that it was too difficult to pic out even ten favorites to blog. So much happened and I shot every heat and every person. I had to go through 3,204 images from two days of shooting. I was on serious photo overload. On top of that the last few days here in Laguna have been so awesome, huge waves and perfect riding. Point is, if you think people should see this album let them know about it. If you want any photos out of this album please email me! (email@example.com).
I know that the slideshow is a long one, but it might be worth your time to look through. The 244 finished and picked out photos were a product of not having enough time to make a 2,000 image photo album. I doubt that you would look through that anyways. But if you think that I may have a photo of you or someone you might know also let me know about that.
Tomorrow is the last day of surf camps this summer with Soul Surfing. I'm so sad.
Here's the run down on the deal though.
1st. Its been the best summer of my life. Thing after thing happened that I never even thought were possibilities in my life.
2nd. It will continue. God is opening doors to new and exciting things in my life and in the lives of a lot of people around me. Its so rad to watch things unfold. I think my dreams are bigger and more meaningfull than ever before. Before they were about me, all the things I wanted for my life. Success, fame... bla, bla, bla. Now, its all about the things I can do for God and the people around me.
Its all awesome. I can't wait to continue working with Soul Surfing and making my life and others lives rad. I'm in full mode to commit my time and money into things I believe in and that are put on my heart. Its time to run the race.
The minnesota man himself! Mike Thienes. Who hasn't this guy helped out in MN? He got me my first publishings in STUCK mag a few years back. That was when I really realized that I was going to shoot for the rest of my life. Thanks for that encouragement Mike!
Maybe it looks like I suck at photography.. haha. Well, its partly true but the real story here is that when people are walking down the beach they really do not pay any attention to anything! So many times today I was pretty much standing in the water and people somehow still managed to walk right out in front of me! i have a pretty large lens on a pretty large camera.. you really can't miss it when its out in front of you! Still, people walk less than feet directly in front of it! ahhhh!!!!! I was about to start throwing rocks at faces.
I just have to keep praying for patience.. it kinda turned out neat anyways.
ps. listen to this with enya playing.. really adz to it!
One; that we have surfer bible study's every thursday at chris and karens in Laguna Beach!
Two; that tonight Bryan Jennings will be speaking and all the rest of the time it is Chris Williams! Either way, both guys have a heart for God and live pretty awesome lives. Their testimonies speak for themselves, stokes me out. Both are awesome examples, people that I highley look up to.
Be here! 255 Oak St, Laguna Beach, Ca. Across PCH from this scene... :)
Newport this morning. This was my first time at this spot, I liked it a lot. It wasn't the best day for riding or shooting, but we all did our best. I'm more stoked on shooting with Adz and Willy everytime we go out. Looking forward to the future with these two!
I shot a lil skim boarding this evening at the request of Chance... It actually turned out way better than expected. Pretty amped on the outcome. They setup a bungie out in the reef and launched into waves. I was all around pretty stoked on how good they were! It looked like so much fun.
